Okay, I'll accept that as consensus.
Soon after one of the large robots comes to a stomping halt at the top of the drop, warning everyone to get clear the pilot then jumps the bipedal death machine down to the wreck. It's got as large casket type box fitted on the back.

The machine then scrapes clear an area of ground with its heavy bladed gauntlet and lays the casket down next to it.Hey fellas, we got ya call. Drag the co-pilot and the beast out here would ya. Any sign of the pilot? I'm driving a few snowmobiles round from a cave stash we set up. They'll be down in the valley bottom in about fifteen.

The walker stoops and unfolds some smaller dexterous hands from underneath the huge cumbersome lumps of metal. It manoeuvres the body of the co-pilot into the casket and then stands as Hernandez drags the beast from the wreckage.
The beast sees the large metal walker and starts to wail, far faster than can be expected the walker barges forward knocking Hernandez out the way and mashes the beasts head flat against the ground.

The walker turns and clips the casket to its back. The snowmobiles have arrived.

The walker stuffs its huge claw into a snow drift with the sound of cracking stone, waggles it about to clean it then climbs up the cliff by smashing huge holes in it with claws and feet. A small avalanche of rock and snow drifts around you. It's soon gone from sight.
Your pans all have a bleeping locator in AR it's the snowmobiles a few hundred metres to the east.
