Just a couple of other points to cover before turning up.

1. Please make sure your PC is up-to-date. www.windowsupdate.com

2. Install an up-to-date antivirus application
- simple viruses can take the internet access down and spread dodgey files

3. Update STEAM for CS:S & DOD:S as we have www access you don't need to run in "off line" mode - but if everyone updates it'll flood our line.

4. Disable "Internet connection sharing" - this plays havoc with our DHCP server - your MAC address will be black-holed if you are running a DHCP server & takes a little while to be relseasd.

5. Set your "internet connection" to connect via LAN

6. Set your LAN IP address to DHCP or "automaticly addign an ip address" & clear out any DNS servers you might have manually entered. (make sure your DHCP client service is running.

7. Uninstall (not disable or turn off) Zone-Alarm - for some reasons this doesn't allow you to connect to some LAN games with it running (BF'42 mainly).

If you are having any network problems at all, there is a command which resets the TCI/IP stack for XP. Open a Run box and copy & paste the following in:

Code: Select all

netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

Taken from http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;299357

Intranet:

We run an intranet to host patches and other "files". Please go to:

www.lanse.local to access the intranet.

You are welcome to upload any gaming related file which might help other people with a specific game. You need JAVA installed to be able to upload.

Thought: should mobile numbers be exchanged beforehand in case of people getting lost/hijacked by mutant chimps?
