A poster on the ever-mighty NeoGAF forums has paraphrased the new details on Battlefield 3 from the new issue of Game Informer. There's a lot here, but here's the gem- the PC version is not only the lead version, it'll boast the 64 player limit of Battlefield 2, while console versions of Battlefield 3 will only support 24 players. When was the last time a PC version of a AAA game had a benefit like that? Yikes.

Perhaps it's more to do with technical limitations and in truth the 64-player BeeF maps weren't the greatest if all the vehicles had somehow mysteriously vanished, but it's still a good sign.

Erugh. Some things slightly worry me, even if the PC version is the lead title.

4 classes for a start. HOPEFULLY that's more like BF2 and will equate to Assault, Support, Medic and Cov Op, just with Bacons rather awesome unlock and choices system.

I really hope support is the one kicking out ammo packs while carrying the MG though, giving an Assault trooper unlimited ammo and rifle grenades was silly in Bacons, as was the medic having the MG and essentially unlimited health.

But my main worry is 64 players on PC vs 24 on consoles.
Although the PC is lead platform, I hope they actually ship different maps (or at least, cut down maps) with the console versions so we're not faced with trying play with 64 players on a map designed for 24 (see Bacons again for how to not do it).

Still, THREEF!

Go and look at how BEEF did it, that worked perfectly.

I know how Beef did it Berk. It did it very well with the scaling maps.

I just don't expect Dice to do the same thing again.

Asshat wasn't unlimited ammo or grenades given the time it took to get supplies from the box. Also the medic box healed far slower than bullets hitting you took it away.

I'm more concerned with will they actually give people stuff to shoot down flyboys with other than shite AA or the humble tank.

fix'd.

At least you had a chance to down a helicopter on foot, with the jets the pilot would have to be a massive noob to get taken out by ground based AA.

The skill level of good pilots was so good that unless you spent like at least 10 hours in jets you were assured to get owned.

HOLY SHIT

If you didn't see it, the EA Gamescom event finished off with another multiplayer BF3 trailer, and this one might have been the best one yet. I fucking seriously cannot wait for this game, it's going to be bad ass.

As soon as it's on youtube or something I'll link it.

Now that's the BEEF I know. Good find Deej, after the lacklustre SP footage I needed something like that to attract my interest again. The air-to-air footage looks amazing, I only hope there's a way of people on the ground taking the jets down if one side is jet-raping (or worse, stealing all the jets from the other spawn). Also, what was the comedy robot thing driving into the concrete barrier?

I'm tempted (again) to pre-order this. I'll even put up with Origin.

Jets look curiously slow in that video, so I'm betting they're paying very close attention to the way the jets are balanced.

It looked like a bomb disposal robot. God only knows what you would use them for in Beef though, I cant imagine IED removal being introduced
