Well, it can't be about balance, as buzz has complained about a great deal of weapons which he's not used, or not used extensively. Which moves it from unbiased discussion about weapon balance, to complaining that he's getting killed by something made for killing.

So obviously, I take the logical step and assume he's talking about realism, as the other option has been discounted on the basis of it being arse.

I've not seen anything that needs major changes, tiny bits of fine tuning perhaps, but nothing has really given me the rage, which is a great measure of weapon balance.

I do fear that BACON will go the way of BEEF, where constant whining resulted in weird bits of unbalance for no logical reason.

Blimey, I wasn't aware pointing out that I think that a class's weapon is overpowered due to seemingly everyone using it (once they've unlocked it) over all the other choices, despite the other classes having a pretty even spread in gun use from their sets from my experience at the end of them, and then having my hypothesis confirmed when I get it and use it myself was such a faux pas.

I'll have to try and remember that in future to avoid looking like the fool who cares about actually exercising the choices given to me in a game.

I think for the sake of game balance, the M60 definitely needs an increase in recoil. It's too easy to get multiple hits on fairly long range targets using the iron sights as-is. Considering how much damage it does, that's too powerful in my opinion.

It's only a faux pas when addressing Berk and Pete. I was just playing down the observations because I don't think it's a huge problem. Although I think we've all said everything we're going to say several times over, and this is just turning into one of those cyclic discussions so often found on the internet.

I'm not sure you have to have unlocked and experimented with every single weapon in a game to form a decent opinion about which are deemed "best" by the online community.

Collectively, that is as some collective gestalt rather than any specific individual, online gamers are min-maxing powergaming twinking bastards. So it's a fair enough assumption, using the barometer of what you've been killed by, to determine what the most powerful weapons are as those will likely be the most favoured.

I don't remember shouting/moaning at Buzz. If I have then that wasn't my intention and I apologise buzzles. I just wanted to point out the realism angle of the long range accuracy.

As for in game I stated :above: that I think it is powerful, but no overly so and that I'd rather see the other medic guns made more accurate to offer a less obvious choice for the medic.

I totally blame Berk for this. :P

It was probably just the comment before mine that caused that, and on reflection I don't think I saw the smiley. Sorry.

I'm losing patience with this game now.

Struggle to log in.
Finally join with other 5punkers, server is laggy.
As with almost every game I've played of this, the teams end up massively stacked on one (usually not mine) side.
Lots of smack talk.
5punkers leave server. First I know is when I realise my squad is gone.
5punkers join another server.
New server fills up before before my eyes as I wait to connect.
Server is full, I can't join.
I rage quit.

This is Dice's thread where they are posting about known/acknowledged issues and what they're doing to fix them.

Autobalance is on the "we're working on it at the moment" list.

Pretty hefty list although some are minor, but it does give an insight into Dice's mentality.

Yeah, I get the joystick issues, when I use my throttle to go upwards my character starts spinning round.

@joaand Balanced: Medics are the least effective killers. 4/4 classes.

Nothing in stats to suggest the lmgs ad a whole are unbalanced

The forums tell me that the Mortar Strike is faaabulous. Interesting, I wasn't aware it had a sexual preference.
Certainly all ties in with the impressions I've got while playing.

Apart from the mortar strike thing, it tried to touch me in a bad place.

I find it generally takes a while to find a good server, but once you get one that's not a pile of cocks, 5punkers will be on there all night.

I was thinking about mortars last night. Considering how useful they are, you don't get hit by them often. Can only one player use them at once, or do they have a really long cooldown? Either way, I don't find them a big problem. They're best used tactically to cover a freshly activated MCOM. This response just strengthens my view (voiced eloquently by Berk earlier in this thread) that people just like to bitch about things that kill them. Hopefully I had a good few people bitching about me one-shotting them with the Spaz last night. Or the guy who reaped the benefits of all my AT research and had his tank one-shotted from under him with an AT4.

Yeah. As the last point in my post implies, I was pretty annoyed when I wrote that. The fact that I posted while angry, something I rarely do, says something about how much this game is frustrating me. If it wasn't so good it wouldn't bother me, as it is I got back on later and had a good few rounds. 5punk filling almost half of a 32 player server is a good thing that hasn't happened in a long time.

:above: That was a really fucking good game, challenging enough to be a great deal of fun, but not so much that it became rape.

They have a long cooldown, I'd guess 60s or so. They're one of those weird things that aren't massively effective against anything awake, but are great for area denial, providing cover, and just fucking stuff up. :)
