I've recently discovered a game for my HTC Hero (but works on any Android/iPhone) that has become dangerously addictive...
It can be downloaded <a href="http://www.parallelkingdom.com/">here</a> or from your phone's marketplace.
So depending on where you are in real life, it generates an area of roughly 1/3 of a mile for you to hunt/craft/generally ponce about in. You can plant flags, so as to claim territory as your own (much chortling was had when I got to work before my mate this morning and claimed the land as my own, thus charging him to travel on my land) and return to it at a later date to hunt/build on it. You also have a dog, which can be "walked" a couple of times a day. This leads to fresh, unclaimed terrain for you to flag.Developers' blurb wrote:Parallel Kingdom is a mobile location based massively multiplayer game that uses your GPS location to place you in a virtual world on top of the real world.
There are two major "currencies" of sorts, Gold for general gold related purchase stuff (which is found/made in game from monster kills/selling loot), and food. Food is a valuable commodity. You get 300 free food when you start your account, but after that's run out you need to buy it with real world currency. Food is needed it to train skills when you level up and train/level up your dog.
Overall, It's kinda hard to explain really, I recommend you download it and have a play, but it's definitely worth a look if you fancy an alternative mobile gaming session on your iPhone or 'droid.
Also there's a referral code system in place, so if you do join up, give me a shout in here or in game (I'm Tanderon - Tandino was taken) and it'll get us some gold/food for our virtual empire...
