Comic Rack

Post by Joose »

I'm sure I'm not the only one here who has one or two downloaded comic books. Or over 2000. Or maybe that *is* just me.

Aaaanyway. I've been bumbling along with the standard for reading comics on the computer, CDisplay, for ages, and its always done fine for me. I thought I would look around to see if anything better has been made though, and discovered that there is indeed something better. Its called ComicRack, and you can get it here.

It does what CDisplay does, in a very similar way, but has a crapload of extra features. The one that really sold it for me (I say sold, it is free) was the automatic database features. Point it at your comics folder, and it will import them all into a library thingy. The *really* awesome bit is it will tag each one with things like if you have read it already, or if you started reading but didn't finish it, or whatever. Snazzy.

It'll update its database by you just bunging your comics in there, and it even makes a valiant effort to work out what series the comic is from and can be set to group them. That seems to be a bit dependant on the files being sensibly named, but mostly works.

So, if you are reading comics on your computer, I heartily recommend Comic Rack, its ace.

Ohh, thanks for that Joose, looks handy.
I should really get back to reading comics, but comics are expensive and :sweep: is free. So while we're on the subject, does anyone know any good :sweep: sites for comics?

:ahoy: Every now and then they do a Comic Book Review on G4/AOTS and I realize how much I miss reading Comic Books.

I stopped back in 1999 when I sold my soul to Everquest for 5 years. Besides, at that time, they were into making "pretty" comic books and had very little substance.

Now I can :sweep: suggested/highly rated series/graphic novels without bothering with the crap... :excited:
