Is this possible?

If you touch your software enough does it become hardware?

Is this possible?

Post by Imperatore »

I want to use my PSP online (on most games it only supports AdHoc meaning I have to be within 10 foot of someone else with a PSP and the same game)
There is a program to do this on the PS3 but it is not compatable if you have your PS3 connected via wireless. Something like, since the ps3 only has 1 wireless card it would have to be focused on either the adhoc for adhoc party or going online...
So my question is, can I connect a router to my router downstairs (wireless) and then ethernet my PS3 to the router in my bedroom to bypass this?

You mean you want wireless to wireless outside your room, then wired inside?

Yeah. It's doable. You can even just buy an off the shelf router to do it, apparently my newish D-Link DIR615 does it (well, the instructions for how to do it are in the manual).

Correct. We have the black BT homehub router, I wonder if I can connect the old white one up to it.

You can always buy wireless extenders and Network Access Points, I'd be suprised if they only did wireless and didn't have any ethernet ports.

I do have a question though regarding the PS3, are you sure that if it's connected to ethernet that you can use the wireless connection for something else? I don't have one but it wouldn't suprise me if it can only use one form of connection at a time.

The PlayStation 3 must be connected to the Internet with a broadband network (wired) connection since the wireless connection is used as a server for the PlayStation Portable.

I'll look into these NAP's you mention.
