5paxx: 5punky Raid Mayhem

Post by friznit »

Throwing this out there because I think we now have enough 5punkers and Fo5 (Friends of 5punkers) at 80 to seriously attempt a 10 man Naxx run. Naxxramas is the entry level 80 raid and apart from being a step up from the heroic dungeons as regards mechanics, gear checks and coordination ( :shudder: ), it's actually kinda fun and would be quite an achievment to get that many 5punkers all moving in the same direction for longer than can be passed off as a mere accident.

Code: Select all

What we'll need:

2 Tanks
2 or 3 healers (depends how confident they are)
5 or 6 dps of any type (ranged or melee)
Suggested people / sign ups:

Main Tank: Friznight (Warrior) or Wiggy (Bear)
Off Tank: Screwnicorn (Berk's DK)

MT Healer: Wigston (Pala) or Friznit (Pala)
OT Healer:
Raid Healer: Dogpants (Shaman)

DPS1: Cuntface (Gayboy's huntard)
DPS2: Klorino (DK)
DPS3: Kokhlos (DK)
DPS4: Slabberdash (DK)
DPS5: -

As mentioned, raid healer representin'

Can do DPS at heroic too, but since I'm the only raid healer in the guild I'm a shoe in.

Have you got a dps dual spec? The 3rd 'heal everyone who isn't a tank' healer just makes life much easier, but it does reduce over all raid dps a bit. It's a nice to have until people get to know the fights better, at which point you can switch to dps mode.

My heal and DPS are about on par gear wise. I'm comfortable with either. They're both about Naxx level.

Hopefully in not too long I'll be able to join in as a Huntard DPS. Think I'm midway through level 77 at the moment, so not too long to go.

Right. Let the cat herding begin. I will schedule 3 nights of 5paxx both on the 5cheduler and using the ILH in game calendar. We'll go with whichever has the most people signed up. To clarify: sign up for any or all of the nights you can make, and we'll work out from that which is the best one. I'll try to make it known in advance what the decision is.

Going for sometime next weekend most likely to start with.

By next weekend do you mean the weekend coming up (halloween weekend) or the weekend after? I can do the weekend after, can't do anything halloween weekend.

How long is this likely to take by the way? I'd hate to commit and then have to leave half way through (or even worse, half an hour before the end) because Mrs Pants had other plans. I can try to give her fair warning if I know what's likely to be involved.

Internet says anything between 2 and 8 hours. It has four wings all about the same size - I don't know if they can be done at different times and still count.

Yeah, I think they save for a week. Not that it matters, I'll have to grovel for longer than that to get permission.

Yeah, once you kill a boss you become saved for a week, not 24hrs like heroics.

The saves reset every wednesday after maintenance, though now you can extend the instance into a further week if you want to carry on from where you left off.

Once you clear a wing the trash in that wing no longers spawns and you can port back the entrance to start the next wing, if you stop halfway through a wing and resume the next day/raid, you may have to kill so trash leading to the boss.

Timing wise, for a new group to clear naxx, pausing for some quick tacts and allowing for a fair few wipes ;) depending on gear level you need to set aside a fair few hours. heh

that said you dont have to do it all in one sitting.

Good way to check if raid dps/gear is good enough would be to pull and kill a gargoyle from Plague wing, Its a nice dps gear check as if you dont/cant kill it fast enough it'll regen 100% hp and you have to start over. A nice gauge to see where gear lvl is at, that said spiderwing is the easiest to start, some faily straight forward boss fights no more difficult (tactically) than hero's.
