New Shooters

Post by HereComesPete »

Werd all you gun toting bummers!

Thinking of updates to the 5cheduler and shooters - Anything you think we'll be playing in the next few months that isn't currently covered in the games list.

I can think of -

Update!!

Modern cod:Part deux - Not here yet.

Resi 5 - I think Pnut and Tezz played this.

Velvet Assassin - Did they do a demo? Whatever.

Wolfenstein 3 - Er, this is probably quite good. Did anyone try it?

Red Faction (Gorillas in the vodka) - Pffft, really scraped the barrel here.

Ghostbusters - Is this even out in the uk yet? Fucking idiots with their pro-piracy release methods.

Arma 2 - Insane, hard work. Walking simulator, the most mind bendingly accurate sim we'll see for a long time.

Flashpoint 2 - Still getting to grips with this, it's not bad imo. Berk hates it because it's not arma.

Duke Nukem Forever. :P

Battlefield Heroes - died a death.

Battlefield 1943 - This did too.

Anything else we might get the chance to fanny about in that I've not got? List it and we'll* start sorting stuff out.

Updated o/p. There's not too much to add really.

Borderlands - I will cry blood if this isn't a fun and absorbing shooter. The graphical style won't be to everyone's taste, but I really like it. It also has a billion billion guns too.

L4D2 - Well it'll be good, that I don't doubt. But they can get to fuck really, bunch of Valve trying to be EA twats.

Anything else?

I have pre-ordered both of these, I cannot wait for Borderlands...

I'm expecting to be playing Borderlands and ModCOD2. Is there any point sorting out icons until there looks to be a reasonable amount of subject matter on the forums?

Not really, I just put that there to wind grimmie up a bit, I don't think it worked though. He's almost as inattentive as Joose.

My aim was to bring together the collective semi-conscious of the eff pee ess types because some very fine shooters seem to slip by without anyone trying it because another game has caught the magpie like eyes of 5punkers.

Gimme icon suggestions and I'll draw them.
I don't want to churn out tons of mini icons and have them all turned down.

Yahtzee and Charlie Brooker. Also me.

It was okay, but since you have to find secrets to unlock weapon upgrades I got stuck in the rut of completing the level, then going back through every inch to find absolutely all the hidden goodies. This was at first time-consuming and tedious, but nothing compared to what it turned into when the enemies began respawning.

Partly my obsessive collectionism, but partly that I knew on some level I'd only ever want to play the game once, so wanted to see everything (ie: all weapons at full power) the first time, so not like Bioshock, more like Prey. Almost exactly like Prey in fact, with your wibbly spaz-vision showing up secrets and areas you can only get to in spaz mode.

It's a far, if not orbital shot, but worth a go, you can win a cod42 on playfire.

You can ask for a copy for any of the 3 platforms if you win, note that but the PC one doesn't have a "prestige edition" at the time of release.

Might be worth the effort with the PC version retailing at a rather unjustified £40. Clearly they're overpricing because they know people will play it, but it makes me consider not buying the game so as not to set a precedent.

Yeah, just read the other thread about that after I wrote that. Now I've got two reasons not to be interested.

I appear to have it on pre-order for £34.96, it's a decent singleplayer game, but without proper MP that's getting cancelled. The Amazon reviewbombing appears to have started, sometimes that gets things noticed - while it's a shameful practice, it's perhaps one of the few ways the marketeers take any notice.

Two things seem certain though, they're unlikely to shift 14 million copies of half a game, and I sure as shit didn't play the singleplayer mode for 67 hours.

Edit: I played SP for 9 hours, so that's less than an eighth of a game. £4's worth.

Tell a lie, it's cancelled now. I've got better things to spend monies on.

Like borderlands!

Between uncharted 2 which I got last week, and borderlands which I'll be getting in just over a week I'm a very happy chap.
