Zombieland

Post by HereComesPete »

Just watched it, funny but disappointed because it looked like it was going to be lots of stupid comedy zombie killing. Then a fucking romance plot turned up like a turd in a municipal swimming pool. And it was a weak romance plot to boot. And they don't kill enough zombies. And Eisenberg isn't funny.

6.5/10

Well I loved it. The whole thing. Even the romance bits, because it was that Michael Cera type awkward romance thing that always amuses me no matter how cliched it is.

It did have a lot less killin' and a lot more storyline than I was expecting, though. But its style was perfect.

It's been very well received by the press and even in the IMDb top 250 at the moment. I'm going to see it at the weekend.

The trailer doesn't help. Granted they rarely do, but the utter lack of shoehorned in (again) romance thinger in it left me unprepared for how much of it there was.

Still, there are some very lol bits so its well worth a watch. Don't think it's worth an actual trip to the cinema though.

One has to admit, that happens quite a lot these days, all the romance-drama-shit taking over a movie with a good concept or a previously excellent series (I'm looking at you, Weeds).

Having just seen it, I have to go with Pete, too much awkward romance and annoying characters, I only really liked harrelson, and off course the surprise guest, the only part of the film which I genuinely liked.
Also, for being completely overrun with zombies there are very little zombies in zombieland.
Oh, and everyone seems to be incredibly fucking stupid. And I don't mean the zombies.

Have you seen Youth in Revolt? I think you'd like it.

Because that would ruin the surprise.

I don't really think it ruins anything. However, I'll go back and spoilerise it.

I don't think it really matters now. People that really care about the film should have seen it already.

I just sent it it back, we could pretend it's the same copy. I used the theme on the disk for my PS3. I found the mystery guest part a bit painful.

Fucking excellent. I watched that numerous times when it first landed on the interwebs.
