Bash 2010

Post by Grimmie »

This is about as pre-emptive as I can get when announcing a bash, but I have good reason.
The next major Birmingham based Bash will be on the weekend of 12th - 13th June 2010

I've announced it so early because a number of overseas 5punkers have expressed a wish to come and indulge in our Bashy goodness over the years, and I figured announcing it nice and early would allow money to be saved, and plans to be made. I'm really just wanting to get a feel for who's interested (especially our foreign comrades) and what you want to do to shake things up a bit.

Here are your two options;

----
1) Brum Bash VI
Standard Brum Bashery, involving foods and drinks, games and bad films.
Would be nice to thrust you all into the bosom of a Birmingham based attraction, perhaps a chocolate factory desperate to sell off the last of it's excess Easter stock. Alternatively I could try and find some form of transport to the Drayton Manor theme park.

Any suggestions on how to change things, things that you really liked from past bashes, Jock and Brum variety, and things that you didn't like that you'd rather avoid next time would be really, really useful.
----
2) Beard Bash
I've been muttering about this for some time. Seeing as the beards of 5punk have been steadily growing from bushy mutton-chops into full on Father Christmas jobbies, I reckoned that I could populate a bash with people who want to beard things up in real life.

Prepare the D6s, D10s and D20s as I desperately try and round up anyone playing one of the Forumised RPGs (Shadowrun, SLA Industries, Paranoia, Etc) and their respective Game Masters (Joose, Pete, Dogpants). Anyone who wanted to try one of these out for the first time would be welcome to attend, of course.

Suggestions on how best to break up intense dice-rolling beard-stroking sessions would be appreciated.
----

Right, well. You've all got plenty of time to decide what you want to do, and while I'm looking for numbers, I won't be allocating any spaces to either event until nearer the time, for reasons of sanity.

Bash VI. I'll probably be able to make, depending on exams.

Jolly good :) , I'll try and pencil it in.

Theme park sounds good, I'm sure there would be enough cars for us to get everyone there.

I vote for Brum bash, for the obvious reason that I'm not a bearded man. Well, I am, but erm... yeah.
Offcourse we could combine both of them if there are enough people, where the beard lovers turn up earlier on Friday and spend the rest of the day playing with their sheets of paper and funny dice, and the rest arrives later and watches bad films and plays games with boobs. And drinks alot.
Then on Saturday we could arse about in the theme park.
just an idea, offcourse.

Yooooo!

I vote for anything, but Beards would be super fun as long as some people won't feel excluded.

I might do as Mr J suggests and stagger it over a few days. Good idea, that.

I suspect a BeardBash would turn into a BrumBash quite rapidly. Depending on what gayems were played.

I'd be up for Paranoia, D+D, Shadowrun, cyberpunk 2020 or WFRP/Inquisitor, but for some reason SLA just leaves me cold (i just don't get the setting...)

so for example, i'd probably just sit it out and listen when it came to SLA tiem.

Possibly better to have a BrumBash, but the various game masters bring their books, adventures, and some prepared character sheets (the worst part of a P+P is often starting a character) Spontaineous RP is best RP

Either way, colour me interested (i can't give a definate yes as thats beyond my period of guarenteed emplyment, so money/time may be limited...)

Beer. That's pretty much all that's needed isn't it? Pub and food? That'd make me happy.

I'd be a lot more inclined to go for a Bead Bash because I'm only likely to be able to make one 5punky event next year, and I want a beardbash to happen.

By way of suggestions for Beadybash though, I could offer the following:

Continuation of whatever we're doing in SLA
A BPN designed for the Beardybash
A one off run of whatever system with pre-rolled characters

To explain a little more, the Beard-PN would be along the lines of ye olde Christmas Dungeons I used to play with my first group. Always batshit crazy, open to any character from any game, little in the way of rules, and with a crazy Christmas present at the end. If you survive.
The one off run would be more like a convention game, with pre-rolled characters and a stand alone scenario designed to be played like an RPG movie. Characters might be nobodies or hugely powerful heroes, it doesn't matter because the normal system of character progression doesn't apply. Or alternatively, players could generate their characters in advance before the bash.
