New Top Gear: Prof's rant!
Wtf is going on this series?
Just watched the latest episode, and it has got me quite annoyed. I know its just an entertainment program now, but it used to be quite fun on the premise of what they did had some semblance of reality.
If you havent seen the latest episode, the thing that got on my tits is the "jemery in an evo VS the army" who were apparently using Live ammo, shooting at him while he was driving around.
Absolutely no chance they would do that, and its downright cheek to suggest that people are stupid enough to belive that they would.
In the words of father ted; Great big massive lies with fecking bells hanging off them
Ok rant over.

I think they just bent the truth a little on the last one, they did use live ammo in the end, obviously once Jeremy was out of the car and out of harms way.
The military bits are all a PR exercise anyway, Top Gear gets entertainment and cool factor from it, the Army/Navy/RAF get some promotion and get to show off.
If you pay attention you'll spot they pretty much always include some banter between the hosts and military folk on the show to make the soldiers be more human rather than nameless uniformed men. PR exercise. Not a bad one either.
It's definitely becoming less about the cars and more of the antics they get upto in cars, little bit odd that as they said last year they were trying to step towards cars a bit more again.
I'd like to see the cool wall back, because it at least had lots and lots of cars on it.

Am I the only one who thought that the "live fire" thing was so obviously bollocks that they were doing their normal tongue in cheek thing? It didn't seem like they were trying to lie, they were just being jokey.
Personally, I liked that section. Big angry looking army vehicles bombing about looking awesome? yes please!

This series has been a bit shit so far. If I hadn't noticed it on iplayer, I would have forgotten all about it. The silly tests used to be a away of taking a different approach to showing what a new car could do, the Evo thing just seemed a bit pointless. I know it's an entertainment show based around cars, but they seem to be increasing focusing on the entertainment part.
IIRC, they dropped the challenges from the format to concentrate more on the cars, I fail to where they have done that. The star in the car is very shit, everyone knows it, it is just a filler. I honestly think they have run out of ideas.

It seemed part PR, part look at our vehicles they are big and have more horsepowers than anything and all painfully, transparently, false. I don't imagine anyone was supposed to believe it, but I feel mildly insulted by such obvious bullshit.
It probably sounded really cool on paper, unlike the race against the letter which would have sounded dull, and turned out more so when pitched against the dullest fast car I've ever seen.
It has been a bit samey of late, I preferred the multi-part challenges set by the crew that involved some form of racing their vehicles would be obviously ill-suited for.
