It's their game and they can have whatever rules they want, like our rules of mandatory puerile innuendo and random kittens.
Responding to customers is an often unpleasant enough task as it is, as many of us know first-hand. There's no need to be rude or unreasonable to them and make their day even worse.HereComesPete wrote:Why try and appear overly reasonable to someone who represents a judgemental and blinkered online community?
That sounds hauntingly familiar.HereComesPete wrote:a judgemental and blinkered online community?
The fun ends if we get banned, I'd barely started the game so don't know if it was worth seeing what we could do with a bunch of us. The fun never ends in the Waugh.Dr. kitteny berk wrote:due to potential mod intervention y'know, if we start having fun

I wouldn't regard the kittens and inyourendo as rules, more guidelines. Such as the inevitable domination of RO-BO and getting horsed by amblin.FatherJack wrote: It's their game and they can have whatever rules they want, like our rules of mandatory puerile innuendo and random kittens.
I personally see a big difference between unreasonable and overly reasonable here. Possibly Berk shouldn't have gone first given his fists are itching, but he tried civilly and got blanked. Buzz tried and offered a variety of arguments and reasons, he got blanked with the same generic answer. This was until they pushed enough to get beyond the same message. They got ill thought out responses instead, they got the 'I'm a parent and I don't like it card' and the it's a ban and that's it response. We said we'd change our name and remove all links if that got us our accounts back, but we got nothing from them.FatherJack wrote:Responding to customers is an often unpleasant enough task as it is, as many of us know first-hand. Maybe we could well have tried reasonable for longer than a few hours, but it still works both ways.
I can see why you'd say that, especially given that I was one of the first to give it a big fat fuck off yet I also wrote that about them and it's quite hypocritical. Judgemental yes but I don't think we're blinkered.FatherJack wrote:That sounds hauntingly familiar.
We all judge and we all make errors in judgement but I think that many of the arguments 5punkers have on all things is due to individual interpretation of events and that's why we're not so blinkered.
We didn't all follow your/a.n others lead in this, we didn't show a single idea or ideal and we each judged differently. They didn't.
I'm pissed off because I bothered to put time into their game and it was wiped without warning and without a chance to explain or resolve the issue. They closed ranks and got their backs up to our reasonable attempts at dialogue.
I don't want to fuck it up for those that still intend to play so I'm just going to leave it now because I don't want to get to the same point or further again just to see it taken away again for some infraction that can be explained away by a series of sweeping and generic rules.

Since Tracey has made the effort to come here and explain, I'll post some constructive criticism in case she returns.
My issue, personally, isn't with the restriction of content. That's the owner's choice and if you want to play the game then you have to play by the rules. My issue is with the subsequent treatment of players. All of us were banned, permanently, with no warning and little explanation, for something which could have been quite easily corrected. We were then given absolutely no leway or chance of appeal, and treated in a very poor fashion.
Ideally I would have liked to have seen an indefinate suspension pending a voluntary removal of any offending material. If this would be too great an administrative burden, then a simple email wanring of the ban and impending account deletion, and an invitation to rejoin the game with any infringements corrected. After all, not many people read the EULA, and this wasn't a deliberate attempt to undermine it.
I am no longer interested in the game, mostly due to what I see as unneccessarily harsh moderation, partly because I don't really have the time to play properly. So this can hopefully be taken as face value, and not as a complaint to try to be reinstated in the game.
The game itself looks fairly well polished, and I wish the team the success it deserves, but if money is being charged to play there needs to be some advances taken in customer relations, because had I paid for a premium account I would have been very upset indeed.

This. I've been stuck in a hot and humid office all day so I won't mince my words - they've acted like a bunch of fucking cunts over this.
Elvis Duck is in no way offensive (well, except for the puns), but because the Tribe name is puerile I get perma-banned? Fucking fire bomb my house whilst you are it why don't you. The Tribe name could've been changed and links removed, but oh no they got all giddy from the power of the banning hammer and acted like complete fuck nuggets.
One thing that made me laugh though: they stated that they will ban people for, amongst other things, 'right extremism', and then proceed to ban an entire community without giving them a chance to voice their thoughts or opinions. What a bunch of twats.

I'm hurt...to think that wouldn't have been an obvious joke. I haven't been angry for weeks...months (other than that 4am drunken rant...I blame the excessive cheap high alcohol beer!).HereComesPete wrote:I would normally just take it as a joke but with Mordeth? Actually, I quite enjoy when 5punk sticks together. We are 5PUNK!1!!
