I dont think the shares/stock market thing has been properly implemented yet, but it might be worth looking at.
Basically, the corp has a bunch of shares, that it can sell off to people. Then, when the corp has votes on things that will affect it, people with shares can participate in the vote, with the amount of shares they own affecting the importance of their vote. Theres a whole bunch of security issues with it at the moment, as people have ended up loosing their corp because some unscrupulous bugger managed to get hold of enough shares to horse a CEO replacing vote, and then also had enough shares to control the result of the vote. Stuff like that.
Ive not really bothered with it at the moment, as i cant think of anything usefull it could be...used...for. Erm, yeah.
if anyone can think of anything, say.

its not quite as simple as that though. Say we sold 40% of the shares, and through cunning and trickery, someone managed to get hold of 20% of the shares. Then they horse a vote at a weekend when the CEO isnt around. That takes the CEO's 60% share-vote-power-thing out of the question, leaving them with 50% of the left over votes. Then all they need is one other person to not turn up/be an idiot/have a grudge against the CEO, and the poor CEO will return from his weekend break minus one corporaton.StickFigureNinja wrote:I wouldn't call that thing a security issue, I'd call it the corporation being stupid enough to sell off more than 50% of it's shares therefore leaving itself open to such tactics.
Of course, none of that's likely to happen to us, as most of us are not idiots
on the other hand, ive not really seen any reason to bother. But if theres more of you who would like to own units of 5punk then maybe we should look into it.
