Have you situated your monitor over an Indian burial ground?
Ive had problems with that before.
Why does my monitor have a green tint all of a sudden?

In response to you saying you go through monitors like hot cakes, do you ever switch your monitor off?
Do you leave it on for long periods of time, without ever turning it off fully?
Every monitor here at work that has had this type of thing happen to it, is usually abused in some way by either neglect or bad use (such as turning it on and off from the plug).
However, it might just be that you are an unlucky bastard.
If you have space for a huge beast of a 21" CRT monitor (in your house, and getting it home), and you are going to the LAN party, you can have the monitor for FREEEEE.*
*few bottles of beer are nice too
