Malware hunters at Symantec have discovered a direct link between a malicious file embedded in pirated copies of Apple’s iWork 09 software and what appears to be the first Mac OS X botnet launching denial-of-service attacks.
Finally it is revealed! Steve Jobs' plan to make everybody buy a mac product, and then turn them into his mindless zombie slaves.

I use Avira Free, it's much better at actually finding nasties, but there is the downside of a daily pop-up ad when it updates. I can live with that, but it might annoy you more.
I don't hate macs either, I just don't like that they went from 'decent, stable computers for designers' to 'shiny expensive hype toys for easily distracted kids'
The hating will no doubt die down once the hype stops.

I use that too, doesn't seem to affect performance at all either which I like.
