Asking around the RPS Castle chambers if anyone had anything to add to the news that there were some new Diablo III screenshots (click on the pics), Jim Rossignol immediately ran to the projection whiteboard and thoughtwrote, "there are two Diablo games, but now there is three of it." This is the reason you visit RPS, and not other sites that apparently persist with existing. But look again, gentles, the inventory system has had a bit of an overhaul.

Woo! I pre-ordered this last year. And I've got a link on the fileplanet downloader to start downloading the demo as soon as it's released. If it is.

Christ. I thought RPS readers were a bit more objective than the rest of the internet, but even there the comments seem to be little more than "It looks like WoW so I hate it", "The original was better", and "I hate it more than you do, so my opinion is obviously more informed".

It does seem to be mostly everyone calling that 'axed' a mong. Which he is.

It are wow but not! It is faillllzz!

I'm a bit confused as to where it looks just like wow to be honest, I've never played it (humanity help me if I do) but I've watched KV run around different bits, bits that look quite different to this.

But then again I'm a diablo fanboi yet I'm not a wow hater though. I'm utterly petrified of being sucked in and surpassing the 150 hours in one week I managed in Aids. Maybe I'm missing the point because I don't mindlessly despise the game because it's popular (or something like that).

It doesn't look like Warcraft. It might be a bit more colourful than Diablo 2, but that was morecolourful than Diablo. It's diversity of environments. They're also comparing the talent tree, but conveniently forgetting that Diablo also had this, way before World of Warcraft did. In fact any similarities are likely to be because Warcraft borrowed stuff from Diablo. But of course it's fashionable among attention seekers to pretend to hate anything popular so as to seem more intelligent because they can see something's flaws where so many others can't. The so-called WoW-haters are, for the most part, these sort of people. From what I've seen 90% of them have barely if ever played the game, and the few who have played it to any great length probably hate it because of how terribly addictive it can be. I challenge any 'hater' to come up with a reasonable argument as to why the game is so bad.

I guess the harshest thing I can think of is that I don't like the cartoon styling/effect. But it generally takes me a few seconds to look past stuff like that.

It really is a case of hate it because it's popular. Maybe they're scared to start it in case they like it and so they scorn it instead to hide the fact.

I admit I was. I disliked the game because so many other people had some weird nerdy obsession with it. I still dislike weird nerdy obsessions, but not the game for being the object of their unhealthy affections. Nor do I hate it for the amount of retards who play it, but on reflection this is the same proportion as any other game. I decided to give it a go and enjoyed it, but decided it wasn't for me because nobody else played it. Later we had a scattering of players so I tried to get us all in the same place, in need of a 5punky game.

It does have its flaws, but it has polish, content, and detail like no other.
