Right then bitches, I have a problem for you!
Basically one of our users has a Fista Laptop running 32 bit home premium and some of the start menu icons have died. The shortcuts themselves are still there but they show up blank and do nothing if you click on them (not even complain that they're pointing at nothing). I decided to have a check in the event viewer to find the same thing had happened! It isn't happening to all of the icons though, only a select few (paint, calc, connect to a network projector, remote desktop to name the first 4 in the list)
If you launch them from the run command then the programs in question work absolutely fine. I managed to track down some things in Google about it probably being a badly coded context menu item but I used ShellExView to disable all of the non MS items (and even a few MS ones too) but it still doesn't work. It is now covered in jam, it's also blinded from the other bit, and I've both sworn and shouted at it (as well as mixing it up and doing shouty swearing) but to no avail. I'm just going through now and disabling ALL the non MS things that ShellExView shows me to see if that makes any difference, in the meantime... halp?
Ta!
