Ha ha, if there is no improvement in my gameplay after a week I should be forced to go back to my shit mouse, and not allowed to play with my new one till I show marked improvementDr. kitteny berk wrote:fancy whore :D
if you don't get headshots, we will be forced to revoke your nice mouse privileges
Not sure if I'll actually use the in game sensitivity switching* though, most games, when you go to snipe, 'slow' the mouse down anyway don't they?!?
*"At the press of a button you can go from cold blooded murderer to remorseful and caring, usefull for BF2 when switching between medic and sniper roles!!"

I am tempted by this: http://www.microdirect.co.uk/ProductInf ... &GroupID=0
as a replacement for my bluetooth one which has taken a battering over the past year (the feet are knackered and the bottom on the mouse touches the pad in places). Is it worth the extra money?

I'm tempted to say yes. However I do just fine with a POS mouse to begin with.spoodie wrote:I am tempted by this: http://www.microdirect.co.uk/ProductInf ... &GroupID=0

Well, having played with my ultra fancy new mouse It's a damn sight better than my old one, my old one would often jump 2 or 3 pixels when trying to be accurate at sniping long distance, the MX518 doesn't. at all. this is good
However, because I played with the old one for so long I kind of got used to it and used to compensating, so it will take me a while to get used to 'stopping' when I've got the sights in the right place!!.
I'm still fiddling with the sensitivity/speed settings in the driver software and in game to get the right balance. First time I plugged it in it was mr speedy boots, it flew across both my monitors in about half an inch of table!!!. I tried it on max in software and min in COD last night and it went spacky, both x and y axis reversed not good. Although that only happened once.
Also the on-the-fly changing of speed buttons, nice idea, but not so great in practice, you can set up to 5 different settings and have it per game, so I could have 3 settings for CS and 5 for COD. pointless. It would be better (IMHO) to have 1 button that switches between 2 settings rather than have an 'up' and a 'down' button as the 'up' button is a bit awkward to reach in front of the mouse wheel. The button in the middle of the mouse is useful, it switches between open applications (like alt-tab), and the 2 side buttons are nicely placed aswell, i'll probably set these to pistol/grenades in games. (you can reset all the extra buttons to pre-set functions, or keypresses. *sets all buttons to F5*)
Still these small gripes aside 'tis an excellent mouse and I could tell the difference immediately between my old £4 bad boy and this whizzy 1600dpi beast!!. More importantly, did I get loads more headshots?... erm I'll get back to you on that one.
Next stop, xtrac mouse mat!...
