A nice but naughty trick you can do:
In your second zone (which is the bad guys starting zone) right click on your portrait and enable RvR. You will show as red to the noobs, who will engage you, flagging them for RvR. Then Pwn them.
It's the n00b equivalent of can-flipping in eve.
You can of course do this anywhere, but in their starting zone makes for easier ganks, as they are normally a lower level.

I'm a level 10 and not poultry yet. It's handy for completing them "kill 2 other players" quests though.Dr. kitteny berk wrote:until you get above whatever level, then being RVR flagged turns you into a chicken.
What level do you become a chicken, or is that based on level difference? What if they started it?
Double post goes!
Ok, I'm a bearded engineer - and I do the most damage with my gun. So... how do I prevent the badies closing in on me which disables the use of the gun on them? All of the 'spells' seem to have zero or no effect, such as barbed wire - on npcs. I just end up bludgeoning them to death, or dieing.
Is there a better way of forcing a ranged fight?

It's an area thing, not a level difference thing. Can't remeber the exact boundries for that though.
Barbed wire has very limited range, even less than the bright wizard snare. Your probably using it too early when they arn't in range. Because it's an AOE it'll always look like it's in range, but if you read the description it actually says it'll only snare inside X radius. Also, all the bulk of your DPS is coming from your gun? Think you need to use turrets more
When I'm out twating NPCs with ma bright wizard (Which probably does more DPS then you, but I've got much less health, plus I damage myself) I tend to go for a long casting ability, then DOTs, then root and back off while the DOTs do their thing. Alpha strike as the snares comming off to finish.

I my first experience of poultrification was level 12 I think (poultried in tier1), and if you're RVR flagged, you're poultry and a 1 shot kill, even if they got in your way while RVR flagged.Fear wrote:

I concur. I wouldn't say the bomb turret was useless (certainly does a good job of aggroing players 'cos it makes lots of noise and explosions), but they do next to fuck all damage. Maybe with specialisation they'll get better but at the moment I'm going to be concentrating on my rifle.Fear wrote:
I always have a turret out, but that does about 30% of my damage, the rest from my character. The bombardment turret seems to be useless, flame and gun-turret are good.
As for closing enemies, not a lot you can do really. That's the bane of ranged DPS and, as I've found out too, it makes them tricky to solo. Luckily your melee DPS ain't too shabby either (as one unlucky goblin player found out when he though he was being sneaky and ambushing me at the back). Chuck an acid grenade to increase your corporeal damage, then spang them with friction burn for a reasonable DOT while you twat them round the head with your spanner swipe.

I was getting a bit frustrated with being the lowest level of a tier on our server so I thought I'd try Destruction on another.
Seeing how the other half live I wonder why being the "good" side has to look so bland and "normal"; the environments for Destro look much more interesting. Are my next spell unlocks on Order going to be "Build and white picket fence" and "Raise 2.4 children"? I guess it's a problem with the black and white concept of good and evil.

I wonder if this is going to be the downfall of the game ultimately - the only people left playing are the hardcore Order who like the fact that they're outnumbered 100-1, and the Destro that enjoy ganking so much they're happy to be bored looking for an Order to gank for five hours to do it.spoodie wrote:I was getting a bit frustrated with being the lowest level of a tier on our server so I thought I'd try Destruction on another.
