It usually says that when the Authentication Servers are down, it happened a lot in beta. Can't see anything on the site about scheduled maintenance, so it must be a crash.Roman Totale wrote:Is anyone else having trouble logging in after the recent patch?
Edit: it gets to the license agreement page then freezes up. After task managering out of it there is an error message that says "Authentication Failed - application will terminate'.

Hmm, it would appear to be an issue affecting a lot of people. Response from Mythic:
By the sounds of it though, the ISP isn't to blame. I've been on the phone to BT for ages (who are admittedly useless) and they are adamant (the dandy highwayman) that there is no packet shaping or throttling on my line.
Code: Select all
The issue for the people getting the error [5] is a timeout issue. Retrieving the server list when there were just a few servers worked because you were getting less data back from our servers. Now, the list is much longer and we are returning much more information about each server. We have put in fixes to optimize this code and increase the timeout and it has worked for many people; however, it seems there is still a group of people that are having trouble. For the people who are still having issues, you should call your ISP to find out if there is a throttle or packet shaper that would prevent you from getting a certain amount of data at once.

After continued connectivity issues, lack of response from the 24/7 helpdesk, shitty update on the shitty website and a bad day at work, I saw my arse with the chaps at WAR, and sent a very snotty 'help form' to them detailing my problems (again) and pointing out that the last game who ignored technical problems didn't turn out too well.
I admit it was an over reaction, but fucked if I'm paying £30 for a game that I can't even play. Furthermore their much touted helpdesk hasn't even bothered to acknowledge the first form I sent.
