I'd never buy anything from the EA store with that stupid 6 months download availability limit thing. I'm still waiting to see what kind of DRM the retail version has, if it has the 3 install limit that mass effect has then they'll lose a sale from me.

Probably the fastest way to get, I figured. Can't seem to find the page that has the code you put in to reclaim the Creature Creator money, though - sure I saw it once.
You do know that Amazon and Play are £12 cheaper than EA Download, right? They can keep that fiver for Creature Creator, I'll have my £12 off and shiny disk thanks.

Yeah, but it comes out on a Friday - so it's either download or Tesco/Gamestation to guarantee weekend playings.

Don't the online stores usually post games to make sure they arrive on release date though? Or is that not reliable enough (I've never tried it)?

You pre-order it, and enter the promo code from the email they sent.

They do, most games I've pre-ordered have actually came the day before release.

Play and Amazon have let me down on the Friday releases before, although they are usually fine, and it's the internal mail at work that is the holdup - annoyingly since we are right next door to them.

Spore is probably my most-anticipated game this autumn, and I don't want to miss any gaming time. If it was over Steam, I'd pay a little extra without a second's hesitation.

I'd apply this to quite a few games narf.

I like a bargain, but if a couple of quid more saw me guaranteed a copy/not relying on companies/the royal mail for delivery and I was desperate enough for the game then I'd pay and not begrudge the bit extra for that guarantee.

But unfortunately, not to anything off EA link. if that's the choice, I'll pre-order and pirate.

Re: Pant's comment on the scheduler about not being able to import creatures from the creator.

Q: How will I be able to control content sharing in my Spore game?

A: First of all, the Spore Creature Creator does not automatically share content. To open another player's creature in your Spore Creature Creator you can download it from www.spore.com or drag the png file to your desktop and then onto the dias of your Spore Creature Creator once you have opened the application.

When Spore the full game ships, there are a number of features we've developed that will help you control what content ends up in your game or Sporepedia.

1. Sharing is optional. You can play offline and use only content that you or Maxis created.

2. You can enable the Buddies Only option in the Spore Online Settings options. With this setting on, only content from Spore players that you designate as Buddies in your Sporepedia will show up in your game.

3. You can Create and Subscribe to Sporecasts, which are collections of Spore content. Your game will be biased to select content from the Sporecasts that you're subscribed to.

4. If you do elect to have open sharing on, you can immediately Ban any content that appears in your game or Sporepedia with a simple click. This will delete the copy of that content from your computer as well as send a message to our servers. We review and address banned content regularly.

Q: Will the fan-created creatures be imported into the full retail Spore game at launch?

A: Yes. The creatures you make with the Spore Creature Creator can be imported into the full retail version of Spore.

I was a little brief in my comments there. You can import creatures, but you can't play the ones you created in the Creature Creator until the industrial stage apparently. Not entirely surprising, as the early stages of the game are about how your creature evolves, but still a little disappointing.

Yeah, just read through it.
He hasn't said anything I didn't already expect I think.

Here's hoping they'll patch in slightly less aggressive AI and an autosave.

Hoping indeed. EA don't have a great track record with patches, but it seems like a labour of love for Will Wright so hopefully he'll push to perfect any niggling issues.

I should probably get Oblivion to a satisfactory conclusion by next Friday then. Head of Mages Guild, Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood should suffice.

I didn't say that it was good :P Just that it was available.

I can see that being able to play it on the day is the only advantage.
But then again I guess that even that's not guaranteed.

I should get my massive disk box in the morning, when I'm actually concious and sit through a lovely installation process.
