Having actually looked at the specs a bit, it's a socket A machine, DDR1 rams, agp.

Really not sure if it'd be worth much at all, narf, maybe worth splitting the drives and monitor out.

case might fetch a bit too, given people are faaabulous for alienware.

You'll get more in complete bits than for a whole unit.

I wouldn't pay more than £175 all in for it, but in bits it'll be over that methinks.

Just the bits in the case will be worth that, and add another £50?ish for the monitor perhaps.

that makes no sense :P

anyway, buzz is right.

what i'd probably do would be split it in this manner:

AMD Athlon XP 3000+ O/C 2.2GHz
2Gb (2 x 1GB) Crucial memory
ASUS nForce2 AN7N8X Deluxe Motherboard
(probably get £40-50 for these, dunno)

Case/PSU/keyboard (obv, depending on the case, if it's a pretty one or not)

sell the rest seperately, expect £10 tops (each) for the dvd drives, maybe £20 for the HDD.

I'd probably keep the HDD, but if you do decide to sell it, give it a few runs over with http://www.dban.org/

It does make sense, I just shortened it by removing words, but under the context you still got the meaning, which was that it would be more financially prudent to completely split the machine into component parts (bits) and sell seperately.

You could try a modern computing museum. They'll buy any old tat. :P

I can't see you getting much monies breaking or selling, even little bastards who are on pocket money and what they stole from grannies purse are getting faster systems than this.

If the hdd is sata then wipe it and get an external caddy for it and use it as your back up until you've got monies for a newer drive.

Three optical drives? Why? Even dejects best excuse was, 'I can leave future beef in one of my drives', hardly compelling. Why not keep all of these for the new rig, just to make sure. :P

Try conning an idiot into thinking the mobo/ram and cpu are a great bargain and you might get an okay return.

Be lazy, stick it on ebay and see if a modder wants the case regardless of what's in it, you might get someone wanting to work on the case and willing to pay for it.

oh, and don't bother trying to flog the monitor over the interwebs.

the postage will be scary, just sell it to a mate for £20-30.
