Should 5punkorp join a CVA pet corp?

I think such a decision is woth its own thread

reading Elotane's meeting notes I have a few questions and points. I have PMd these to you in game but think that they should be aired before others make their decisions;

afaik all CVA stations are public, thus we have access to them at the moment and their NRDS (not red don't shoot) policy supports this assumption. Thus we are free to rat and mine in their space at the moment. In fact I'm pretty sure I was ratting in their space last month.
You say that AoA are working on contacts with CVA. Are they Blue to CVA at the moment?

I still support joining AoA (subject so one of the more experienced players telling us something about Smash alliance, who AoA appear to have splintered from) except for my point below;

This 2M a month alliance fee, is this a game mechanics fee or are AoA asking us to pay some sort of membership fee? If 2M a month for the corp then it's not really relevant past principle but if it's 2M/member/month then it's a very different situation indeed.

If we are being asked to buy our way into an alliance who's only offer to us is to tell us where the CVA stations are then we should save our money, imo. I, hulky, Friz and a dozen others know where these are (several in Catch, our old home, iirc).
To answer Bomber's questions:

According to Arhangel Raphael, the CEO of AoA, it is a 2 mil per corp fee, not per member.

According to Nuram, who is in CVA, they are NOT blue. But according to the AoA CEO, they are updated on who is red to CVA, and do join in pvp with them against pirates and hostiles. So exactly what their status is remains foggy. NOT being blue to CVA weighs heavily against my vote though, as Bomber has pointed out that we don't gain much except an alliance that says they are affiliated. We could go to catch and rat now, although joining in pvp ops might be a bit tougher without that affiliation. Many of 5punkorps newer members are aiming their training at barges atm, so won't be pvp'ing in anything more than frigs for awhile anyway.

from what Dres and I talked about just now with Nuram, I'd say AoA are an OK bet.

CVA are anyway NRDS so being neut to them is fine
IF we get on well enough in AoA and enjoy CVA's company then we can perhaps consider selling ourselves to CVA at a later date but we are nothing like active at the moment thus AoA make a good step up form our current position.
I Assuming AoA are as active in CVA space as tehy say they are then any PvPers will not have a problem finding a gang to fly with.
I assume (for now) that this 2M/mth is purely to catch out completely inactive corps

I votes yes.

Nice one Dres :likesitall:

CVA and 5punk do have a history, not only when we were in ISS helping Ushra Kahn but when we were in BUM and taking a very active role against them. I'd say "Eurgh... CVA" but saying that though, it would definately be a boost and help the corp so... yea go for it.

Well, we should be members of this alliance any minute now. We'll have to set lots of standings, do classes on how to scout, move together, use voice comms, fit for travel, all that jazz, but once we're ready, we'll be able to start proving our worth and doing more 0.0 work!

Thanks for the input gents!
