Color corruption

If you touch your software enough does it become hardware?

Color corruption

Post by Baliame »

I have this problem with my GPU that it seems to corrupt colors in web browsers and Paint. I think it happens since I installed ATI driver 8.1 (which I updated a few times now). Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT. Anyone know a possible fix?

Example:

That would be YouTube. Notice the red text color instead of the blue one?

Also, it doesn't happen to all colors, and it doesn't happen in games. It seems to have problem displaying bold YouTubeish/Googlish blue text most of the time.

apparently that was fixed in catalyst 8.2, just update your drivers. (you may need to properly remove the drivers first, using drivercleaner or similar)

Or sell it and get an nvidia, that'll work too.

I don't know much about Radeons, having never used them myself, but a friend has similar issues with drivers not being uninstalled properly before applying "new" ones. What's recommended for completely scrubbing them? I know berk mentioned drivercleaner but I thought that was for nvidia drivers.

For info there's a freaky bug in the Sims 2 where if you have pretty much all the expansions, it effectively negates using any nvidia card. Not playing the Sims 2 is also unequivocally not an option.

Just a note, I never scrub my drivers, just install on top.

I don't have this problem running 8.2, and there are now newer versions out.

:above: unless there's a weird issue, then it's usually sensible to clean up first.
