Changing ISP
Right then, currently I have a phone service with Telewest Blueyonder, and my broadband package is as follows
1MB Unlimited boradband for £25 a month.
I would like something to match this (possibly faster) but for a cheaper price.
Basically I can't fault blueyonder, and it's very rare that I cannot get online, or have any kind of slowdown on the connection etc...
However I am unwilling to pay £25 a month when there are cheaper deals about in the U.K.
The reason I haven't changed yet is because my phone line is currently with Telewest Blueyonder as well.
In order to open myself up to other ISP's, would it be a sensible option to take up the "come back to B.T." offer, or is there some sort of catch that then ties me in to a long contract, and will stop me from being able to choose an ISP that can also provide a telephone service.
The other thing to consider is that we hardly ever use the telephone, and we could go without it and just use Mobile Phones instead, however I believe I would have to have some form of phone rental in order to then use broadband over the phone line???
Arggghhhhh teh confusion, can someone please clear stuff up a bit for me, and help me find a decent and reliable service for a good price???
I don't mind still paying £25 for a service, as long as it's faster etc...

If you're paying £25 for your phone and broadband, then I don't think BT/ADSL can help you out there.
Here, we're paying for BT Option 2 + Plusnet 2Mb, which is £16.50 + £21.99 = £38.49
Even at BT's lowest, £10.50/mo, you're still gonna be paying more than what you currently are if you want a decent enough ADSL-based ISP.

dunno about the bt stuff, but
plusnet do a "Broadband Premier" package, which is effectively uncapped, and you don't have to pay much extra for higher speeds
at the moment they offer
up to 2mbit for £22
up to 4mbit for £30
up to 8mbit for £40
all of which are including VAT, and only have lax fair use rules.
