Unreal Tournament 3

Post by Gunslinger42 »

So how many of you have this (or are thinking about it) and what do you think?

I'm tempted to pick it up, but I WANT INPUT before I decide.

I've been all meh after the first UT. This one will probably need its own hard drive. PCG gave it about 88% though, so they liked it.

I'll be buying or :sweep: this.

I've bought and enjoyed all iterations of URT, I even enjoyed unreal 2:the awakening, which was a low point. Dunno if it'll take off as a 5punk game, but even playing the bots is fun, unless they're godlike, in which case its a real challenge.

S'not that bad, doesn't quite eat 9gb.

I have it swept, but I'll buy it once it hits 18 quid.

It's on my list of games I need to get one I get my new PC in, along with the soup expansion

I have it, and it feels the same as the previous games. The standard DM and CTF maps feel very familiar, cramped as ever, same guns - which I still consistently fail to recognise on the ground. The capture node ones are the usual cycle of vehicle whoring and being squished by Mantas.

I really enjoyed the SP games Unreal and Unreal 2, but while this one has the odd cut scene, it quickly gives up and becomes a tournament ladder. Also the Voice Recognition from the previous release is gone.

So er... fast paced DM I could play for an hour at a time, tops. More shiny than the last one with different maps, but otherwise the same. The Unreal engine has been put to better use elsewhere.

So it doesn't have the vehicles and varied modes of the previous game? I liked them, is that wrong?

No, I really liked the vehicles and capture modes, and the objective based ones.

Like Berk I'll most likely get this when cheeper

Vehicles, yes, in the capture node game mode, er..Onslaught. I don't remember ever playing that one on 5punk. Random servers seemed to have an infinite number of people who would camp your base in a vehicle, constantly spawn-rape you and never get bored - I left if running for an hour once and when I came back the same clown was still killing me.

There are a few different game modes, but I can't remember the names of them.

The sniper rifle seems to have returned, but with a persistent red line tracing the bullet. You also get big floaty arrows telling you which way to go.

I think I'll "sit this one out" - it's not something that interests me unless it gets a lot of good feedback from 5punkers.

Very much this. Being a bit shinier isn't going to cut it on a game as short-living as UT.

I've never been a big fan of the UT series, and unless everyone here buys it I shall give it a pass.

I've never really played any of them, apart from about 1 hour of one of them with you lot a while ago. Seemed a bit "meh" then, so not too bother by this either. Also: COD, Teef and Cannon Fodder!
