CoD4 MP: First impressions.

Post by Dr. kitteny berk »

Well, I've just spent an hour running around in cod4 on the bukkake server.

It plays like cod, but better, it's kinda the bastard child of Cod:UO and Cod 2 - You get grenade cooking, sprinting, shotguns and a really pretty game.

There's a ranking system, dunno how it's calculated, but it seems to allow for more weapons/unlocks/custom kits, However, it seems to be well made, there's no reason you can't hold your own in a busy game on your first time playing.

The maps/game seems to be made for mid range and CQB, so it's quite fast, not particularly frustrating.

The cover/concealment thing is good too, makes you think about where you hide (in that bullets can penetrate, so hiding behind a fence or car will often make you dead)

in short: seems really good, I can see tuesday cod making a comeback.

I see the (expected and characteristic) massive innacuracy of hip-shooting on the run being the largest stumbling block on the road from TeeF for me.

Yeah, I think that'll be a bit of a problem for some people, I didn't find it too bad though. I reckon it's because it feels like a cod game, so I automagically right click before trying to shoot.

I can't get mp to work, punk buster fails, and every server I try says fuck off with your dirty stolen key. Sp is rather good though.

Hell yes! Whats that you say? don't shoot the church...

105mm ccannon engaged, church is dust, game over, I win (or lose because it reloads, but I killed a 'house of god' and I like it!)

I must say, this game is damn pretty. Only tried SP so far, but I'm enjoying it.

So many things to say at once!

1) Baths!
2) AC-130? As in the Spectre? Actually, as I type it I've heard about that level. Supposed to be very much like the infamous video footage.
3) You seem to be armed with an attack helicopter in one of those screenshots. Isn't that a bit unwieldy indoors?
4) You lose for blowing up a church? Do you lose for blowing up a mosque? I suspect not.
5) COD level designers don't know which side of a bath to hang shower curtains on. GLaDOS would be very unhappy.
6) ...
7) Profit.

6) ...
7) Indeed

oh, and alt tab works.

alt tab works really, really well. better than beef and teef, certainly.

If it's worth saying, it's worth saying twice.

Especially if its about baths

I just completed the SP campaign, was great fun, worth playing through. fairly short, but it was fun so there.

Fairly short is understatement. But it is much win, I'm not at all bothered by the fact that it's short, unlike some other games that are in fact longer.

Amongst other things there's attack dogs, sniping choppers, shotguns that shred people, it's all good! I only got a few bits of the intelligence that unlocks chetz, generally too busy getting shot te fuck to worry about finding laptops, so I'll play it through again on a lesser difficulty, because veteran is quite challenging.

I recognize that first one, following the tank? almost exactly the same outcome when I shot him, except he was sticking out sideways instead of doing a spiderman!

Also, close support air strikes suck, you kill a load, and they instantly get replaced, you don't even have time to get up and run!
