Please can I have a MMOOSFPSRPG roundup?

There seem to be a number of MMO / SP / FPS / RPG type games kicking about at the moment, Hellgate, The Witcher, Dark Messiah, Tabular Rasa etc. I confess I have little knowledge of any of them, but have always rather enjoyed RPGs, and the idea of an RPG with guns is appealing. Are there any that you would particularly recommend and conversely, any that I should avoid?

Tabula Rasa is alright, not amazing. It reminds me of StarWars Galaxies mixed with a FPS, wihich was kinda what the Combat Upgrade in SWG was, but this one works. me and Voddie play the beta occasionally.

the hellgate london beta ended today and i think the tabula rasa one did as well, not entirely sure on tabula rasa though, but they both come out soon so might be worth waiting for a trial rather than just buying the game as you might think they are utterly shit

Hellgate and Tabula Rasa are RPGs with guns. Hellgate plays like an FPS with skill progression, Tabula Rasa kind of WoW with guns but not as good - apart from the fact it crashed after about 15 minutes on me, once I found out Richard Garriott was Lord British I couldn't bear to play it again, as I've wanted to kill the smug bastard since Ultima I.

Dark Messiah is Half Life with swords and magic, The Witcher is swords and magic too, is action-based, but the attacks need timing more than FPS-style accuracy and can played from an overhead view, or an over-the-shoulder one.

once I found out Richard Garriott was Lord British I couldn't bear to play it again, as I've wanted to kill the smug bastard since Ultima I.

actually, he put his character out on tabula rasa for everyone to come along and try and kill him yesterday for an end of beta thing
