Is Amarr BS BPC worth getting now? I still looking at production for BS and cruisers.
BS production is something we're looking at getting into as a corp, so I'd suggest going cruiser, just so we're not in competition with each other. If you'd like to invest the money for an Amarr BS BPO (Blueprint original that can be researched, copied, and invented), the corp might pay the costs for research in exchange for using it for production and invention. You'd retain ownership though, and be able to use it as you wish after we copy it some.)

BPC's are limited run, and they're only as efficient as they are when you get them.

Point to note on building Tech 1 bs (from experience):

Average profit per ship using reasonably priced buy orders for all minerals is 1mill if you build from BPCs. Average ME20 BPC cost is 2mill for a Tier 2 bs.

If you mine the highs and use very low, wide range, long buy orders for the low ends you can increase your isk profit at the expense of time and effort.

The most efficient way to make isk is a combination of ME20 BPC sales and ships built using mined/low buy order mineral purchases. But you're still looking at around 1200+ ships and/or BPC's sold before you break even.

In short, DO NOT expect to make a profit on a bs BPO unless T2 bs invention proves very profitable. The BPO is a long term investment, designed to give the corp access to cheaper pvp ships, and hopefully some cashflow, NOT net profit in the short term. It is also a hedge against T2 invention, of which we know very little at this time. To that end, we will only invest in BPOs which we know to be the most popular and high turnover ships.

This first BPO will be paid for out of corp capital savings account and I will set up a separate trading account for exploitation of this asset. It will remain distinct from the Corp Battleship Programme account which will continue to function as and when people fly bs into battle.

Hope that clears it up for everyone.

Hmm, I had higher hopes of making it profitable a little earlier than that, but that's what they were, high hopes.

Over time though, (years), 5punk will build up a library of useful BPO's, just as they have now, only with bigger ships. As our library grows, our costs will go down on the corp BS programme, and we'll continue to be able to replace ships lost in battle.

A few of us are working on a method of making a bit higher percent return on some other production. Namely T2 components.

I don't recall where, but somebody had mentioned inventing Hulks? Since no matter what BS's are used, the minerals will always be mined in Eve, and what better than Hulks for mining? Even the ORE capital is useless w/out barges or exhumers, and Pete had mentioned the price rising again where he mines. Even if we just do it w/ bpc's, we'll always be able to use them ourselves if we can't sell for a profit.

What, if any, work has been conducted toward this end? I know I bought a BPO to invent Strip Miner II's, we have people inventing Mining Upgrades, why not the ships too?

Problem with hulks is i think the market has crashed. used to be sommat like 450mill, and then invention came out, and i'm sure i've seen them hovering around the 150mill mark, but i dont know what the margin is with an invented hulk. same with the rorqual when it hits, everyman and his dog is gonna want in on the 'OMGSHINEYNEWNESS!!!', but we may stand a chance to get in on the gorund floor with those.

I subcontract for a mass producer of hulks (a small consortium that invents around 500 ships a week). Turnover continues to be high, even though the market is incredibly flush with producers. Prices steadied at about 140mill in Jita and fluctuate between 120mill to 160mill around Eve.

Build cost for a Hulk, assuming a 9 run decryptor, using mats off the market and building the T2 Comps, assuming you own or can get a steady supply of covetor bpc's, built covetors, datacores and encryptors = approx 65mill, going up to 80mill if you invent/produce smaller numbers.

So profits are still very high but the work is intensive. You need several fully skilled production characters (10 slot, PE5, Mech Eng & Gall Starship Eng) plus all the relevant skills for turning out T2 comps. The hardest part is selling them, as the market is extremely competitive and the most successful people sit online in Jita all day undercutting the competition.

Doable, certainly.

I was pleasantly surprised to be able to buy one for 112mill this week in TMP and it wasn't the only one going at that price. A significant drop compared to about three months ago when I last looked to buy one.

So, by a margin of 3-1, we've decided to get a Megathron BPO.

Within the next week I'll get one, get it into research, and make a seperate post so everyone know's how it's going.

and again :sweep:

any idea what the bonuses are? What compensates for only 4 turret hardpoints? I haven't studied it to see cap charge times maneuverability etc although lack of "true" T2 resists seems odd, but maybe that's where the bonuses are.
btw, I have all the prereqs for this except BSV :ahoy:

I'm guessing resist and gun bonus like HAC / AF and *something* which points to what you use those 3 utility slots for. NOS range maybe

cov-ops would be aces, but the skill prereq isn't there so I can't see that, but you never know

when do these come in?

That just looks like an expensive megathron to me?

The Reticle doesn't have T2 ship construction skills, but can have.
