Request

Post by Roman Totale »

Loes

Just a small request of everyone regarding Shartak - could you please tone down the teabagging and other lewd behaviour? I know from our point of view it's quite a light hearted thing, a time honoured tradition going back to the early days of CoD, CSS and BEEF, unfortunately not everyone in Shartak sees it that way.

We're starting to get a bad reputation and, whilst I don't completely agree with it, it's one I want to avoid. I'm by no means telling people what to do, just a small request to hopefully benefit all parties involved.

Within the Waugh do what you like, just be aware of other players outside of it.

:above: All of this... mainly because I'm tired of having to defend 5punk on the Shartak forums.

Absolutely, I've no desire to be ashamed of wearing the 5punk tag.

I think that's usually referred to as a "pearl necklace".

ISTR Dr Hodo actually said something like "I don't care [about the teabagging], it's only text, I just skip over it and heal people", it seems to just be people who heard about it who are annoyed.

I'm not sure the argument that kids might be playing is a sound one either, as if they know what teabagging means or have free, unmonitored access to a site that will tell them what it is, then there are issues there way beyond Shartak, and more in the realm of responsible parenting. Any kid over 12, though what's the difference - they are almost certain to have encountered a simulation of the practice in online games and in the playground.

Agreed some 5punkers went a little far in their descriptions, as your average teabagging in something like CSS couldn't be described as particularly sexual. However I'd be more concerned about the violence present in the game, reasoning that unlike sexual acts, that's a far more more unhealthy thing for kids to be learning. Cultural differences, I guess.

Anyway, I'll keep the lewd comments to the Waugh, try and ignore the (potentially, perhaps probably) underage attention-seekers and encourage other 5punkers to do the same.
