Bioshock discussion (PC/360) - HIDE SPOILERS PLEASE

Post by spoodie »

To avoid people seeing spoilers they don't want to in other threads please post them here. You can use the following code to hide the spoiler, highlight the text to read it. It'd probably be a good idea to give an idea of what the spoiler is about so people know whether they can read it or not, if possible.

Code: Select all
spoiler text
Not a spoiler but I noticed the present you have on the plane says "don't open until...", I wonder if this will pop up later on.

You're just upset because Berk's finished (probably) and everyone else is further along than you :P

for DoT
It's in dentistry within the hospital place, use fire to open the frozen door downstairs, should be pretty obvious from there

I got really annoyed in the second level where you get to a bit where you need to hack like, every 10 seconds, did them all but it's a bit boring when you're not shooting stuff just playing pipe cleaner. That is all

Remember you can press H to bring up the map and 'unhide' a handy hint if you get stuck. They pretty much tell you exactly what you need to do next.

So far I've found it a very pretty, atmospheric and well put together FPS. But it's still a linear game like HL2 and all the other before it. Somehow SS2 felt less linear - maybe because you chose your skillset at the start, the level designers were forced into making each 'problem' solvable in many different ways. For some reason I was expecting more SS2 or Deus Ex level design than HL2. Does it get better as you get further into the game?
And big daddies were made out to be these really scary things, only to see them proliferate everywhere once you've killed the first, with or with out the little tarts in company - kinda took the pizzaz out og them

I want to take my time and enjoy it without finding out stuff I don't want to. So far it's awesome.

berk the picky bastard wrote: Well, I've put 2 short stints into this over the last 2 nights, its bloody good, few things

1The bit with the first female slicer stroking the gun in the pram, pure fucking genius

2-The bit in the dentists with the frozen room and turning around to find the dude right there, trouser browning genius!

3-trying to find a technique for killing the daddys, the close combat ones are quite easy as long as you shoot and scoot, I've found that electocuting and machinegunning, whilst throwing the bombs back is the only way I can take down a rosie, but its still fucking difficult.

4the camera, at first I thought what the fuck? But it adds an extra something to the game, dunno whether I like it yet, but its pretty original at least.

In all this game is living up to the hype for me (as much as any game can) the only thing I'll complain about is the scavenger re-roll thing, I've yet to get a re-roll grant me anything, I'm tempted to swap out at the next machine, they are pretty regular though so even this 'gripe' is really minor!

Played this far too much!!

This game fucking rocks, I love it :)

Few points from me:

1) Woah the big Daddies are fucking solid. *HINT*Grenade Launcher FTW combined with the machine gun with AP rounds is the best strategy. When you get to the casino place later on and meet the upgraded red suit wearing Daddies, I recommend freezing them and using a combination of Heat Seeking Rockets and Grenades. All the while backing away to keep distance on them.

2) Back up your saves seperatly! I've gone through the game using the one save and it's been my downfall. Have now reached a point with no ammo, plasmid gell, health and money. oops :(

3) Adam totals:
Save Maddies and get 80 Adam. Bonus: Normally 200 Adam, money and some ammo.

Kill Maddies and you get 160 Adam, but no bonus.

Mr Bubbles wrote:The shotgun works well on them, especially with electric ammo. I use the machine gun generally and save shells for the Daddies. Zap and blast in the face if no electric ammo. Also the electric armour lets you get away if they do clobber you.
Cameras wrote:Tend to zap and hack these straight away if I can reach them, more effective than the burglar painter plasmid as they can automatically clear out enemies that repopulate areas you've visited.
Scavenger wrote:I hadn't got a sausage from this either, until I got to the level where there are inventy machines, then you could basically choose to reroll component drops.

With a decent lcd it's totally possible to read the white text on the 5punk background.

Please either put your spoilers in quotes (if you're using white tags)

or use

Code: Select all

if you don't want to use quotes (as that's the 5punk background colour) see?

I'm shocked and appauled that Berk and Chickens have spent all weekend playing Bioshock.

I need to put some hours in to catch up next week when I'm not at werk.
