I'm going to do a windows reinstall tomorrow to hopefully fix my Bioshock problems and a couple of other non-related problems that haven't been annoying enough to warrant a reinstall so far.

I'm going to hold off on installing the beta drivers again until Friday incase they release non-beta ones by then.

This, was unprepared for the ending, so much that I had to replay it just to have a good poke around and play with stuff. Like plasmids.

Nice to know you get 5 electroshocks, yet 9 firery things to a full via of Eve.

Was it just me, or were some of the effects not actually as good on the PC?

Some of the water jets just looked odd and the water so transparent you couldn't actually see it. Might try again with DX9. Although, with broken internets was unable to get an updated driver which, to be fair, it did warn me about.

Nice to actually be able to see stuff in detail, though - the 360 felt very cramped in comparison, even on a huge screen. Vastly improved models on the PC, the Little Sister actually had toes, instead of shoebox feet.

Was brighter by default than the 360 and didn't need adjusting, ran really well at 1680, didn't even heat up the GPU much, but could have used a bit of antialiasing in places.

PC version certainly the one to go for, some of the toys you get later are going to need a lot of accuracy to get right, and it's so much quicker to look/turn around without feeling like you're The Bionic Man without the sound effect.

This is the main thing I noticed after just playing the PC demo, I'm playing on 1240x1048 so it's even more noticeable. Other than that it looked mostly the same as the 360 version. Although the last scene's volumetric lighting looked a lot better.

That's because you're not allowed the game until some time tomorrow.

The servers are definately down, so is their website, there's a couple of news articles on various sites about it and people on other forums are complaining. Whether I can activate or not when they go back up is another story, hopefully they just use the american release date for activation if they actually come back up today.

The stuff I've read says it's a combination of the two, servers are down and you're not allowed to activate, because they're fucking wankers.

That's possible the weirdest thing I've ever heard from a publisher. Are they deliberately trying to piss their users off?

I seriously think so.

So far:

Widescreen being wrong (vert- rather than hor+)
Stupid install/Activation limit.
Staggered release date.
Late EU release time (last I heard, steam was launching at 9pm)
Broken Activation servers
2 layers of activation for steam users
Limited preload (79%) on steam.

There's now rumours that people phoning 2k tech support are being told that the UK activation servers will be back up at 1pm GMT.

Not play the game, simple as that.

2K cockmunchers piracy protection FTL!

Just checked play and game sites and neither mention requiring a net connection to play it.
