The Bioshock demo was impressive, but I haven't played a demo of Halo 3, so am disinclined to make a fanboyish judgement based on an utter lack of any real knowledge.
Halo was good in it's day, but I got bored with Halo 2 very quickly.
I don't think the 360 is the ideal platform for any of those three titles, being shooters they belong on the PC. I bought mine for Forza 2, as driving games, as well as GTA-style games work well on it.

The halo 3 beta felt like learning a half new game, or like a classic you go back to and rediscover the keys and ai flaws in. The flamethrower is now in, finally, and there is also a molotov style grenade from the brutes to provide more fire based stuff. I hope they allow you to pick up more than 2 of each grenade, sometimes having lots of stickies to throw around is great fun, I'd sacrifice variety for quantity on occasion.
A 'serious' fps doesn't seem to work well for me on a console, css or beef would annoy(even more), but the arcadey style of shields and being able to jump around whilst headshotting people gives a pace that I feel fits.

Thats my generic ignorant fanboy part! I wasn't aware that all points made on 5punk had to be well considered rebuttals! Such as the one or even RO-BO with its own well considered point-
Its a pity mountain dew has too much caffeine in it to buy it here, it is a tasty drink, despite the colour being more the dew of fairy liquid.
If your read further on, you will see that I don't think halo 2 is some sort of uber game which can do no wrong. Me, DoT and vibrospazz were having a mass debate thankyouverymuch.RO- wrote:...

I personally thought Halo was a bit shit.

Probably even more of a sign that it weren't great. I'm not keen on the Halos', I must say the first was ground breaking back in 2002 in terms of graphics... but graphics are only 1 part of the piece and wasn't good enough all round to keep my attention for long.Duke of Ted wrote:a game having a weak story doesnt make it rubbish, i dont remember much of a plot in the first Halo.

Jesus what versions of Halo's 1 and 2 have you guys been playing? I still play Halo and Halo 2. Knock the difficulty up to hardest and try and complete it, or even better get a mate round and complete the games in coop mode for added lols.
Graphically the games both look dated but are still some of the prettiest/largest games you can get on the box without having to put up with horrible loading screens.
I've never played Halo 2 on xbox live as I don't like online console shooters, thats what the pc is for. System link multiplayer is just brilliant tho, 16 people all darting about in a level the size of a postage stamp with rocket launchers is just fantastic.
I can't wait to play either game but for totally different reasons. Bioshock as it's Bioshock and needs no further introduction and Halo 3 for coop play and the end of a brilliant series of games.

They're fairly bland, repetitive FPS games, only thing they do have going for them is that they're made for consoles.
I played Halo 1 through long ago, it was fun, but that was it.
Nothing special certainly.
I'm with Chicken on this one. One of my fave FPS memories is being round a mate's house with loads of beers and Halo Co-op start to finish. Silent Cartographer is one of my favourite maps. Same with Halo 2, he was driving the tank, I was sat on the side and we were both hammered.
As a standalone though, yes it did Good Things for console FPSings but it was no Half Life 2/System Shock 2/infinite other FPSs
Crysis will be shit though.

exactly. The reason the Halo series is so popular these days is the multiplayer. The single player is a decent game in all respects, with a great level of polish, but it just not anything too special. The co-op helps out surely, and it's a very rare treat these days.tandino wrote:As a standalone though, yes it did Good Things for console FPSings but it was no Half Life 2/System Shock 2/infinite other FPSs

The point I was trying to make before I was attacked by rabid fan boys
Ooh, I've got the urge to go on YouTube now and say that Halo is shit in all the recent videos.
