Re: Is it a good time to upgrade, bitches?!

Give me broad recommendations of what to look for when getting a new PC. I have no intention of building it myself mind. And if anyone wants the gizzards from my old machine (not the hard drive though, you can get your own cat pictures) let me know. I'll post what they are later (or look in the old ...

Re: New season talk type thread thing.

Nope, regional. Series 2 has been available on DVD for a while here - nearly picked it up as I thought Netflix might not be doing it.

Re: New season talk type thread thing.

Fargo season 2 now on Netflix.

Preacher continues to be good. The pacing is weird as fuck, but it still manages to work. The fight in the motel (episode 6 maybe?) was brutal, surreal, lunacy.

Re: Movie mini reviews

Saw a review on YouTube earlier (which I'll post in a bit) that said pretty much the exact same thing. He made a good point though that for most people watching the review they will have already made up their mind. The comment section is gloriously awful as you can imagine.

Re: New season talk type thread thing.

Preacher is progressing nicely. If you're put off by the "comic book adaptation" thing, don't be - it's not superhero stuff. Like Joose I only remember fragments of the books, so I'm not viewing it from a fan boy angle at all. The guy who plays Cassidy is really good, and I found out this ...

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back

Despite all the flack that Tom Cruise gets, I liked the first film. This one looks to be more of the same, and I'm happy with that. Probably going to give the books a whirl for some popcorn reading fodder.

Re: New season talk type thread thing.

Ooh I was just coming here to post that. Looks pretty good so far - I'm hoping that as it's a series it gets to be a bit more 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep' type stuff.

Re: New season talk type thread thing.

New Blood New(?) series on BBC. Some people sign up for a medical trial, and a few years later they all start dropping dead in mysterious circumstances. Two seemingly unrelated investigations by the police and the Serious Fraud Office start to converge. It's quite entertaining. Really cliched in par...

Re: New season talk type thread thing.

Last time I said this it was immediately followed by the Red Wedding, so hopefully something similar will happen again... This series of Game of Thrones is really dull. There are fragments of interest followed by swathes of fuck all. I gather there are only 3 episodes left now, and it feels like thi...

Re: New season talk type thread thing.

I was slightly wrong when I said Preacher had started - the pilot is out, but the series doesn't start proper until 6th June. Which seems a weird way of doing it. Just started watching Bloodlines. Not bad, but it's definitely a slow burner. Don't expect edge of your seat thrills, more of a character...

Re: New season talk type thread thing.

Preacher has started on Amazon. Only 1 episode in, but pretty good so far (the Guardian have already proclaimed it the best comic adaptation ever, but no one listens to those fuckwits). I previously mentioned Marseille. Sadly it didn't live up to its initial promise - story just of drifted off and s...

Re: Recommended Reading

I think I'm going to leave the Fallers stuff until the second book comes out (in paperback). Despite reading 3 big sci-fi books in a row, I'm trying to mix my genres more this year. Last year I didn't read as much as I would have liked to, and I blame that entirely on reading the Song of Fire and Ic...

Re: TV Show Mini-Reviews

I know what you mean - I'm still watching it, albeit very slowly. I have to limit my intake though due the dangers of ocular strain from rolling my eyes so hard. So far I think 4 characters have used the "I never asked for any of this!" line when someone has asked them to use their powers ...

I've finished the Void Trilogy, and damn it was good. Just realised though that I never explained what the books are about! Starting with the first lot... Re: Movie mini reviews

The Hateful Eight Really liked it. Despite being a Tarantino film (and hence high profile), I only knew the bare basics of the story when I sat down to watch so I think the unexpected added to my enjoyment. It's almost like a murder mystery film, with intrigue, deceit and suspicion prominent throug...

Ghostbusters - trailer 2 I mean, yes it looks utter shit, but I don't understand the intense hate that it's getting. Stark Trek: Beyond - trailer 2 Seems like a bit of a tone...

Re: New season talk type thread thing.

Latest series of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is now on Netflix. Seriously, if you haven't watched it before give it a whirl - it's absolutely tremendous. Mini-review: I'm sorry to report that I was really disappointed with this series - quality has dropped off massively. Usually quality level...
