Re: New season talk type thread thing.
I finished the series! Okay, it was only 8 episodes long, but that's an achievement. It felt very John Carpenter, which occurred to me when I saw the teacher watching The Thing. I was a bit disappointed by the ending, but it wasn't awful. Just not that interesting. All in all, I can't remember the l...

Re: Battlefield 1
Movement wise it is. You run fast and vault over scenery. But if you do that you'll get sniped. I found myself advancing cautiously then dashing to heavy cover before observing for fire before the next dash. I think I moved a lot less than in other BEEFs (and indeed most other games). The weapons do...

Battlefield 1
B1FF? Anyway, it's in open beta and opinions vary but it seems to be pretty serviceable. It's certainly Battlefield. Good bits: It looks and sounds very WW1 (and very pretty). The splodes are great. Horses. The beta is free. No aircraft so far. Tanks are quite fun. Bad bits: I'm not sold on buying u...

Re: New season talk type thread thing.
I found a series I like! It's Stranger Things. I think the 80s theme (the kids make it feel a bit Goonies) and cinematography (like the atmosphere shots of creaking swing-chairs before scenes) clicks with me. The lovely electro and 80s music helps too. Merely making past the first episode elevates i...

Re: Hexcells Infinite
We lapse for months at a time, but it is a good game. I think when I posted the firsts few scores nobody else had it (and if I remember correctly Pete told me to give up because nobody else was going to).

Re: Norman's Guy
The internet thrives on drama. This one is feeding the gamer echo chamber. It's just another extension of the need for tribal belonging that fuels goobergate and the runaway hype train that caused this.

Re: Norman's Guy
Aaand it turns out it's a client side bug. The original reporter re-downloaded the game and found everything where he left it.

Re: Norman's Guy
Yeah, I've read about that. Could be a bug or an oversight, but if it's deliberate it rather changes the spirit of the game. I don't think Hello's silence about the issues people are reporting with NMS is helping them.

Re: Norman's Guy
Yeah, agreed with Joose. £20 is the price that keeps popping into my mind. As I've said before, I've got more value for money out of NMS than I have out of a lot of games, so I'm not unhappy, but I couldn't recommend it at this price. I reckon it'll come down or go on a sale pretty soon unless they ...

Re: Norman's Guy
Yeah, that one makes a good point. I have to admit, whether you enjoy NMS as a nice space-exploring walking simulator or lament it as a lie passed off as the omnigame holy grail, you can't escape the feeling that it's missing opportunities for greatness.
