Re: New season talk type thread thing.
I think this depends on the nature of the show. Completely agree with you when it is something like the Mentalist. They has set out to tell a specific story, then try and stretch that story for as loooong as possible. Inevitably makes it thin. There are shows where its fine that they are long thoug...

Re: New season talk type thread thing.
I just happened to finish the film I was watching (Idle Hands, stupid and only a bit shit) when I read Roman's recommendation of Line of Duty. I've not quite finished the first series yet but the fact I finished the first episode is telling, since I rarely do in anything. Don't know whether it's bec...

Re: Movie Trailers
Just realised that the music at the end being a combination of the Rebel and Imperial themes might be significant. I mean, I know it shows her being arrested by the Rebels and also in an Imperial uniform, but I reckon there might be more to it than the bad girl anti-hero rebelling against everyone.

Re: Rust server
That sounds fun actually. Like Castle Doctrine. As I say, I wasn't going to be playing Rust for a bit so I don't care either way. Although I would play to run a gauntlet of death.

Re: Rust server
I wasn't going to say anything because I wasn't planning on playing Rust again until something interesting happened, but for what it's worth I concur with Pnut. 5punk-on-5punk PvP is not something I want.

Re: Movie Trailers
Isn't that sort of Jan Ors and Kyle Katarn era stuff and basically their brief? Apparently she's called Jyn Erso though which has totally some different letters to Jan Ors. Most of the old extended universe stuff is now called legends, scrapped to make way for Disney's new canon. I'm not upset abou...

He has a resemblance and an extremely similar uniform to this guy, seen in the Death Star command room.

Re: Movie Trailers
That looks so good it made my balls retract. I can't quite work out the setting though. Pre-Yavin? That Death Star looks more intact than the second one.
EDIT: On second view, clearly launching from Yavin. Same screen, and they've even found a good match for Mon Mothma. Fucking hell that looks good.

Amazon Gaming Sale
Amazon are launching a PC gaming store, for peripherals and components, and more disappointingly junk food and shite clothes. To celebrate this they have put up one of those flash sale events all week. This interested me, because I was planning on upgrading this month anyway.* The problem is there's...

Agh, that table-flip gif pisses me off every time I see it. That fucker is doing it for effect because he's a dick who thinks he's an alpha-nerd. He's spitting his dummy, not dropping the mic.

Re: Take 10 Albums
I'm pleased to say, Roman, that although I've never heard of The Fall I didn't hate the two songs you posted. I didn't want to, thought I would, glad I didn't. You've reminded of my cousin though, who baffled me when I was much younger by introducing me to The Smiths. Until then I thought he was int...

Re: Recommended Reading
Use of Weapons felt a lot more low-key compared to the colourful action adventure of Consider Phlebas. I'm easily pleased I suppose, but I did like both. I've liked everything I've read from the Culture series so far.

Stardew Valley
I've started this thread for two reasons: 1. I'm hitting it pretty hard and want to discuss it with other 5punkers in a more permanent medium than Discord. 2. Other people might wonder why some of us are putting so much time into it. It's hard to describe Stardew Valley without saying Farmville, eve...

Re: Recommended Reading
I think I might have written something similar about The Road here years ago. I agree with your review. I've recently been reading through Iain M Banks's Culture series. I mentioned Use of Weapons on TS at the time, not sure if I wrote about it here. I liked it, probably not as much as Consider Phle...
