Re: Norman's Guy
EDIT: And it does not like ALT-TAB Seconded I had to buy it to see what all the saltiness was about. It runs fine for me and looks good, but I do have a high spec system. Only about an hour in myself and slogging across the landscape to find the material I needed to repair my ship was a little tedi...

Re: New season talk type thread thing.
Stranger Things is certainly not the best show ever, but it's hard for me to find fault with any specific aspect of it. Absorbing acting, compelling story, great soundtrack and achieving that overall '80s feel and style is very impressive. However the creature CG was a bit naff, once fully revealed ...

Re: Is it a good time to upgrade, bitches?!
No optical drive, because the internet. This caught me out with my new build. Windows 10 didn't have the drivers for the fancy network port. Not a huge deal to get around, but would have been easier if I had thought of getting a USB to SATA + power adaptor like this one . Allowing temporary use of ...

Re: Is it a good time to upgrade, bitches?!
The i7 CPUs are for enthusiasts or people that use applications which require a lot of CPU power. A new i5 is more than enough for gaming. However I have a brand new i7 and other components that are overpowered for my requirements, so what the hell, go for it.

Isn't this Peter Fonda talking to Hopkins? Who starred in Future World, the sequel to the original West World. He's not in the cast list that I can see.
Liam McPoyle from Always Sunny as well.

Nice mo-cap and music, no clue otherwise. Hideo Kojima certainly has ideas.

Second episode is up. Unfortunately showing each episode weekly, after airing in the US it says.Roman Totale wrote:I was slightly wrong when I said Preacher had started - the pilot is out, but the series doesn't start proper until 6th June. Which seems a weird way of doing it.

Re: Overwatch.
Lucio is awesome. Good for survival in the middle of a fight and a pretty powerful attack if you can land the shots. I've been testing other supports and they seem squishy and very slow in comparison. Although all of them have enjoyable abilities in their own right.

The developer should move this into the 21st century and instead of ASCII characters, use emoji. My eyes hurt just thinking about it.

Re: Star Trek: Axanar
Don't get too excited. There's seems to be a lot of drama around Axanar and I'm not convinced we'll see anything worthwhile come out of it. Unfortunately this is now effecting other fan productions and I suspect CBS/Paramount are dropping this particular suit partly to avoid bad publicity ahead of t...

Was getting trounced in one match, at the end we see that there's 3 Bastions on the other team.Dog Pants wrote:Everyone likes playing Bastion though
Really enjoying it and very tempted by that pre-order button. The mix of TF2-like gameplay, but a MOBA-like ability system is probably genius.

Personally I gave up on Boardwalk Empire after 1 episode, probably not enough if I'm fair. I really enjoyed Peaky Blinders though. Different strokes and all that.

Re: Dark Souls 3
I really enjoy watching people play the Dark Souls (and BloodBorne) games. They look great and there's the a schadenfreude aspect to it. Perhaps I'll try this one at some point as I hear is the most accessible of the series.

Not very specific, but if you can't stretch to a NVIDIA GTX 970, a GTX 960 is also good.
620W PSU is fine.

Critics gonna be critics. The rotten tomatoes shows the audience liking it much more than the critics. However there are reports of fake accounts being used to boast the score on IMDb.

Re: Pi-Hole - Raspberry Pi based ad blocker
Might be entertaining to bounce ad requests to another page, so you know when a page is blocked, or just knackered. This is a good point. Pi-hole has a light-weight web server that supplies a 1x1 gif, instead of the advert. I assume to make sure the browser or whatever gets some kind of response an...

Re: Pi-Hole - Raspberry Pi based ad blocker
There's that new mini pi thing that costs about a fiver. tempting. Also, This works nicely on machines that will enjoy a hosts file.` As Pi-hole doesn't need much power a Pi Zero may work. But you'd also need to buy a USB -> ethernet adaptor, not just £5. Or wifi, but the latency may be a problem, ...

Pi-Hole - Raspberry Pi based ad blocker
https://pi-hole.net/ I stumbled across this the other day and it seems to work rather well. If you've got a Raspberry Pi lying around, not doing anything, this could be a good use for it. The idea is that the Pi acts as your DNS and blocks any known advert addresses, such as doubleclick.net. It's al...
